nothing really...

no new news to share really. just thought i'd post a little something today. my heart is heavy these past few days with what happen just down the road from Richmond at Virginia Tech. as i'm sure your's may be too. i continue to pray for the survivors, the vicitims families, the students and staff and community of VT. these are hard, painful days for them.

This Friday, April 20th, has been declared "National Hokie Day". So wear Maroon and Orange colors to show support for Virginia Tech. We get to wear jeans and wear these colors or anything Virginia Tech here at work. WHEW-WHO!!! Dress code here is business casual. Hardly ever allowed to wear jeans. Course, it's my day off (go figure!) but i'll sport a Tech shirt w/ my jeans nonetheless. :)

M10K results...

well, unfortunately i'll have to try next year to break my goal of 1:45. did not get to participate in the race as my walking partner ended up with a bad case of hives. as we were walking from were we parked to the start line of the race, which ended up being a mini 10k in itself, Steph started scratching her legs. the more we picked up our pace, the more she kept scratching. as we neared the start line, i noticed that her legs were beginning to swell and she just wanted to rest a moment and scratch away. i asked her if she wanted to do the race and she said maybe we shouldn't. boy are we glad. by the time we turned around and found our way to the medical tent (we had to also get our chips cut off our shoes), the poor girl was in misery. the doc at the tent told her it was hives and that some folks get them when they exercise outside. he said to get benadryl in her system immediately. so we left the race and i took her home and she took some benadryl and something else to help with itching and by later that evening when we saw each other, she was fine. at least we got t-shirts and made a contribution to the cause of the race. ah, and an offical race photographer took our picuture, so there is proof we tried to participate. :) we are going to start training soon for the race next year and hopefully jog most of it.
